Project Description

    Mondim Sonoro
    Composed of two graduate students in Music Production and Technologies, being that each one of them has a solid background in music analysis and performance, this group aims to deliver an experience in Mondim which will translate the most important elements of the region into sound and music. Each member of the group has a particular strength to contribute to the project, music theory, engineering and programming. Having collaborated in the past in a sound art project, Porto Sonoro, the group’s members are active around the country, working with sound live and in studio, performing on stage, and in audio investigation environments as well.

    Hugo Ribeiro, alumni
    Graduated in Music Production and Technologies, Hugo Ribeiro has been working with sound art and audio systems programming for the last four years. With a heavy background in music performing, theory and production, Hugo is currently involved in an investigation project regarding virtual stage acoustics, as well as working in live and studio sound engineering. Having performed around the Iberian Peninsula with experimental and improvised music, Hugo’s main focus is the development of new sonorities in the digital domain.

    Sérgio Silva, alumni
    Graduated in Psychology, and in Music Production and Technologies, Sérgio Alves has been working in music and sound art for the last years. Having been involved in two investigations projects, regarding music education, and Psychology of art and music during his Psychology degree, Sérgio Alves has been working in music production, and in music for audiovisuals for a few years now. Parallel to this, has been performing in diverse musical genres, from electronic music, to pop, funk or jazz.

    Porto Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE), Portugal
    Porto’s Superior School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE), belonging to the Porto’s Polytechnic Institute (IPP) emerged (1994), after the extinction of the Superior School of Music, with intention to widen its offer of graduation courses to other artistic areas beyond music. Nowadays, ESMAE encloses three departments: Music (instrument, singing, composition, early music, jazz, production and music technologies); Theatre and Visual Arts.ESMAE has developed varied partnerships in order to give a chance to its students to show their work, off campus through concerts and festivals.
    ESMAE has nearly 830 students and 140 teachers. ESMAE has got more than 90 cooperation agreements with international institutions and has been taking part in European projects since 2003;active partner in AEC and ELIA (performing arts european associations), in several ERASMUS IPs such as Operamedia, IICS, SACS, La Follia, Phoenix and promoter of several national and international festivals like HARMOS festival, IRI and SET.
